Training and Workshops
We offer training to clinical and non-clinical staff in a range of healthcare settings, including with hospital staff, sexual health terms, mental health practitioners, clerical staff, and in general practices. This can be on a range of topics, including:
- LGBTQ+ awareness and allies training
- Safeguarding and supporting trans patients
We offer a range of formats: online or face-to-face. We can deliver from 90 mins LGBTQ+ whole-staff-team awareness briefing, to half-and full day in-depth training sessions. All of our training is tailored bespoke to your service and context.
Content of training and workshops:
LGBTQ+ Awareness and Allies Training - Depending on session length, we will cover some or all of these topics:
- Understanding LGBTQ+ terminology and concepts, and intersectionality
- Exploring and challenging our ideas about sexuality and gender
- Media Misinformation Myth-busting
- The Equality Act and LGBTQ+ people's rights
- Practicing being active bystanders against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
- How to safeguard and support trans children in healthcare settings
- Understanding the history of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK as a tool for moving forwards: declassifying LGBTQ+ identities
- Creating safe and inclusive healthcare settings for staff and patients
Safeguarding and Supporting Trans Students Training - Depending on session length, we will cover some or all of these topics:
- Understanding Gender Identity terminology and concepts, and intersectionality
- Exploring and challenging our ideas about sexuality and gender
- Media Misinformation Myth-busting
- The Equality Act, the Cass Review and trans people’s rights
- Transition: what it means, and how to support trans patients
- Practical advice in healthcare settings: Toilets, name changes
- Practicing being active bystanders against transphobia
- Creating safe and inclusive healthcare settings for staff and patients
Expert consultancy
We can also provide expert consultancy around a range of topics, including:
- Reviewing your policies and procedures to ensure they are inclusive of LGBTQ+ staff and patients
- Writing and implementing a trans inclusion policy for your healthcare setting
Costings
Unfortunately, there is currently very limited funding for organisations providing LGBTQ+ training and support. While we try to keep our costs minimal to ensure our work is accessible to all training budgets, we do have a small cost associated with our training and consultancy.
State sector:
- 90 mins awareness briefing: £135
- Half day training: £250
- Whole day training: £450
- Consultancy: £300 per day
