Training and Workshops
We offer training to teaching and non-teaching staff in FE/HE Colleges. This can be on a range of topics, including:
- LGBTQ+ awareness and allies training
- Safeguarding and supporting trans learners
- Making RSE curriculums inclusive
- Setting up LGBTQ+ pride clubs in college
We offer a range of formats: online or face-to-face. We can deliver from 90 mins twilight LGBTQ+ awareness briefing, to half-and full day in-depth training sessions. All of our training is tailored bespoke to your school environment and context, including for non-mainstream and SEND settings.
We also deliver learner workshops:
- Classes on identity, equality, discrimination and being active bystanders against hate
- LGBTQ+ history sessions for college equality or pride student groups
- RSE curriculum workshops, including around inclusive sexual health, consent and healthy relationships

LGBTQ+ Awareness and Allies Training - Depending on session length, we will cover some or all of these topics:

- Media Misinformation Myth-busting
- The Equality Act and LGBTQ+ young people's rights
- Practicing being active bystanders against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
- How to safeguard and support trans children in colleges
- Understanding the history of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK as a tool for moving forwards
- Creating safe and inclusive colleges and curriculums
Safeguarding and Supporting Trans Students Training - Depending on session length, we will cover some or all of these topics:
- Understanding Gender Identity terminology and concepts, and intersectionality
- Exploring and challenging our ideas about sexuality and gender
- Media Misinformation Myth-busting
- The Equality Act, the new schools ‘guidance’ and trans young people’s rights
- Transition: what it means, and how to support learners in school
- Practical advice in school: Toilets, residentials, name changes and sport
- Practicing being active bystanders against transphobia
- Creating safe and inclusive colleges and curriculums
Making Relationships and Health Education Curriculums Inclusive Training:
- Understanding the statutory RSE curriculum guidance: what you can cover, and how to build on this
- Exploring where RSE can fail to be inclusive and how to fill these gaps
- Understanding how to use inclusive language in Relationships and Sex Education
- Understanding the importance of consent-based education
- Anonymous Q&A: Responding to your hopes and fears around teaching RSE
- Planning an inclusive RSE Curriculum: Lesson plan mind-mapping
Setting up Pride Groups in College Training - a 90 mins training sessions around setting up an LGBTQ+ pride club in your college setting, after which you will be provided with a resource pack of sessions plans and activities

- Safety and confidentiality for LGBTQ+ learners
- Practicing group facilitation
- Session planning for your group: activities and themes
Expert consultancy
We can also provide expert consultancy around a range of topics, including:
- Reviewing your policies and procedures to ensure they are inclusive of LGBTQ+ students, including your Anti-Bullying policy
- Writing and implementing a college-wide trans inclusion policy
- Developing an inclusive RSE curriculum
Costings
Unfortunately, there is currently very limited funding for organisations providing LGBTQ+ training and support. While we try to keep our costs minimal to ensure our work is accessible to all colleges’ training budgets, we do have a small cost associated with our training and consultancy.
State colleges/alternative provision/SEND colleges:
- 90 mins awareness briefing: £135
- Half day training: £250
- Whole day training: £450
- Learner workshops: £90 per hour
- Consultancy: £300 per day
