Screen With Pride!
Your Queer Bits deserve care and attention – and so do you.
At The Brunswick Centre, we want to remind you to take care of your Queer Bits – because your health matters, and so do you.
Looking after your body in a way that feels right for you is vital. That includes staying on top of your cervical, breast, peck, and chest health.
No matter your gender identity or how you describe your body, you're entitled to respectful, inclusive healthcare. So, take a moment. Check in with yourself. And if something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait – speak to a healthcare professional.

If you are transgender or non-binary, it's important to make sure you're still invited for the health screenings you need. If your gender marker has changed on your medical record, you might not be automatically called for screenings such as cervical smears or mammograms. For example, trans men and non-binary people assigned female at birth may still need cervical or breast screening.
Trans women may be eligible for breast screening depending on age and hormone use. Speak to your GP to ensure you're on the right screening programmes and to understand what’s relevant for you. Your health matters — don’t miss out on vital checks.

Breast and cervical screenings
Breast and cervical screening save lives. They are simple checks that can detect early signs of cancer before symptoms appear. Yet many LGBTQ+ people face barriers when accessing these services, including uncertainty about eligibility, past negative experiences in healthcare settings, or a lack of information that reflects queer lives.
Screening is for anyone who has the relevant body parts, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. If you have breast tissue or a cervix, regular screening is important for your health.
At Brunswick, we want to make sure LGBTQ+ people can access clear, inclusive information and feel confident about getting the care they need.

Testicular, prostate and anal cancer
Knowing your body and understanding the signs to look out for can make a real difference when it comes to cancer. Testicular, prostate and anal cancers can affect many people within LGBTQ+ communities, yet awareness and conversations about these topics are often limited.
Regular self-checks, recognising unusual symptoms, and speaking to a healthcare professional if something does not feel right are important steps in protecting your health. Early detection can greatly improve treatment outcomes.
At Brunswick, we want LGBTQ+ people to have access to clear, inclusive information that supports informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
