World AIDS Day

December 1st is World AIDS Day

This World AIDS Day, we remember those we have lost to HIV and stand in solidarity with people living with HIV, and with the communities who support and advocate every day.

Our work, shaped through partnership and lived experience, is driven by a commitment to ensure everyone has access to the health and support services they need, regardless of HIV status, background, or gender. We will continue co-creating programmes with people living with HIV, ensuring their voices and leadership strengthen our collective effort to build a community free from stigma and discrimination.

This day is a day to pay tribute. It’s also a reminder to pay attention to the experiences of people living with and affected by HIV that often go unheard.

That’s why we’re launching Untold Stories. A campaign that shines a light on the lived experiences of people affected by HIV by challenging stigma and creating space for understanding. By having open, supportive conversations about HIV, we can help make testing and healthcare support feel respectful, and accessible to everyone. Every story shared helps build a community where HIV is understood, not judged.

Join the fight against HIV. Share knowledge, amplify these stories, and help us put an end to HIV stigma.

"We can end inequalities by letting communities lead"

Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS
