This event is part of the Well Proud campaign from The Brunswick Centre and partners, created to improve support for LGBTQ+ people across our communities.
LGBTQ+ people continue to face unique health and wellbeing challenges shaped by discrimination, stigma and barriers to accessing services. Many support services are still not designed with LGBTQ+ needs in mind, which can leave people unsure where to turn. This conference brings together professionals, practitioners and community organisations to strengthen understanding and share practical ways to improve support.
We expect 100+ delegates from health, wellbeing, social care and community roles, along with local LGBTQ+ groups. It is a chance to learn, connect, reflect and build stronger, more inclusive services across Calderdale and Kirklees.
Throughout the day we will explore key areas that shape LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing. There will also be opportunities to hear about new projects, local services and practical approaches that can improve outcomes across Calderdale and Kirklees.
The conference will be hosted by Ginger Johnson, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Celebrity MasterChef.
Delegates will hear from a wide range of speakers exploring key LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing themes, including HIV prevention, smoking cessation, outreach, safer relationships, Pride and community connection, drugs and alcohol, chemsex, lived experience, and creative responses to stigma and inequality.
This includes presentations on a number of projects and initiatives such as Queer as Smoke, LEVEL, DRAG, Queer Bits, local Pride organisations and more.
The day will also feature a special performance from theatre maker, film maker, writer, performer, director, producer and HIV activist Nathaniel Hall.
The full schedule and agenda will be available nearer the time - but book your ticket now to secure your place.
