Well Proud conference - Video Highlights
Well Proud conference spotlights LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing in Calderdale and Kirklees
Professionals, community organisations and local partners came together in Brighouse on Friday 27 February for the Well Proud Conference, focused on LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing across Calderdale and Kirklees.
Hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner and Celebrity MasterChef champion Ginger Johnson, the day brought energy, insight and honest conversation to some of the key health issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities.
Speakers and contributors shared work from across the Well Proud programme, including LEVEL, Queer Bits, DRAG, Queer as Smoke, HIV prevention and support, Pride and more. Together, they explored themes including safer relationships, screening awareness, smoking cessation, drug and alcohol support, chemsex harm reduction, HIV prevention and the power of community connection.
The conference also featured a panel discussion on drugs and alcohol in LGBTQ+ communities and ended with a powerful creative performance from HIV activist, writer and performer Nathaniel J Hall.
At its heart, the event was about visibility, trust and partnership. It showed how tailored, culturally aware support can help LGBTQ+ people access the right information, services and support when they need it.
