LGBTQ+ Awareness and Allies Training
Our LGBTQ+ Awareness and Allies Training is designed to build knowledge, understanding and confidence when working with and supporting LGBTQ+ people.
The training provides an opportunity to explore LGBTQ+ identities and experiences, challenge assumptions and misinformation, and develop practical approaches to allyship and inclusion.
What the training covers:
- LGBTQ+ terminology, concepts and intersectionality
- Exploring and challenging ideas around sexuality and gender
- Myths and information
- The Equality Act and LGBTQ+ rights
- Being an active bystander against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
- Supporting LGBTQ+ and trans people
- The history of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK
- Creating safer and more inclusive environments
Course information:
The session will take place on Friday 2nd October 2026, from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
The three-hour session will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams and costs £40 per participant. Joining information will be sent to registered participants ahead of the training.
Places are limited to 16 participants. The training will be repeated at a future date, with further details to be announced.
Please note - This training requires a minimum of 8 participants to run. If the minimum number is not reached, we will contact attendees in advance and provide a full refund.
Meet your trainer:
Luca Claughton (they/them) - LGBTQ+ trainer
Luca has over 10 years' experience as a trainer and workshop facilitator, alongside seven years' experience as a youth and support worker specialising in working with LGBTQ+ young people.
Luca holds an MA in Performance, specialising in applied performance and workshop facilitation.
