Edwin Buckley

Edwin is our Company Secretary. He is the Head of Communications and Engagement at Causeway, a national charity for marginalised and vulnerable people, including survivors of slavery and exploitation. Prior to this, he held a number of media and communications roles at organisations including Prostate Cancer UK, Natural England and the BBC.

Edwin is a committed LGBTQ+ advocate, which began at university when he setup and became President of the LGBTQ+ network. He is currently an Ambassador for MindOut, LGBTQ+ Role Model at Diversity Role Models and an EDI Committee Member at Causeway. Previously Edwin has been a Judge at the Queer Student Awards, and on the EDI Steering Group at Prostate Cancer UK, where he was influential in setting up their first LGBTQ+ network.

In 2022, Edwin was selected for Utopia’s prestigious Inclusion Makers programme. Whilst in 2020, he wrote and produced a children’s LGBTQ+ inclusivity film for the BBC, fronted by RuPaul’s Drag Race star Courtney Act. The film went on to be described as “ground-breaking” by PinkNews and was the first time the word “queer” had ever been broadcast on BBC Children’s.
