Primary and Secondary Schools

Any staff team who completes the actions on the three-tiered awards below, will be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold badge and certificate that they can proudly display in their reception, office/classroom space and on their website and email signatures!

  • 50% of staff have participated in an LGBTQ+ awareness briefing
  • A core group of 5+ staff have participated in LGBTQ+ Allies training (half day)
  • School has appointed an LGBTQ+ allies staff lead
  • Posters and displays around school show messages about Pride, celebrating diversity, and tackling bullying
  • Schools recognise the importance of creating safer spaces for non-binary students and staff - so offer toilet passess and private changing spaces
  • All school policies are in the process of being reviewed to ensure they are inclusive
  • School has created an LGBTQ+ Allies Action Plan
  • 75% of staff have participated in an LGBTQ+ awareness briefing
  • A core group of 10+ staff have participated in LGBTQ+ Allies training (half day)
  • 1 additional staff training has been accessed e.g. safeguarding trans students, establishing Pride groups, inclusive RHE, PSHE (Primary schools only) and RSE (Secondary schools only)
  • School has engaged with local Pride and LGBTQ+ youth events, and shares info and resources with pupils / students
  • School are making changes within the building to offer a gender neutral toilet and changing facility
  • All school policies have been reviewed and are inclusive of LGBTQ+ staff and pupils / students
  • A pupil / student ambassador group has had an equality, diversity and bystander workshop
  • School has ensured the delivery of some inclusive RHE, PSHE (Primary schools only) and RSHE lessons (Secondary schools only)
  • 90% of staff have participated in an LGBTQ+ awareness briefing
  • A core group of 20+ staff have participated in LGBTQ+ Allies training (full day)
  • 2+ additional staff training's have been accessed e.g. safeguarding trans students, establishing Pride group, inclusive RHE, PSHE (Primary schools only) and RSE (Secondary schools only)
  • All pupils have had lessons around equality, diversity, and anti-bullying, tailored to age (Primary schools only)
  • School has hosted an in-school Pride event
  • School has in place at least two or more gender neutral toilets and changing facilities
  • School has a trans inclusion policy
  • All students have had lessons around equality, diversity, and being active bystanders (Secondary schools only)
  • School has implemented an inclusive RHE, PSHE (Primary schools only) and RSHE curriculum (Secondary schools only)
