Formula Milk Programme
It is recommended that HIV positive mothers do not breastfeed and do not use their own expressed breast milk. This is the single most important means of reducing the risk to their baby post delivery. Formula milk is the recommended alternative. The Brunswick Centre will supply a steriliser and 4 feeding bottles and up to 2 tins of formula milk per week to any HIV positive mothers following the birth of the child and up until the child’s first birthday, who are living in Calderdale or Kirklees. Formula milk provision is at no cost to HIV positive mothers.
