A message from Tom, our Chairperson
Hi everyone! I hope that you’ve all been able to rest and recharge over the festive period and spend time with friends and loved ones.
It’s felt a bit different over the past couple of years, what with the pandemic and now the rising cost of living. I know that everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment, and some people are really struggling. Help is available in both Kirklees and Calderdale and warm spaces are there for those who need them. Please do follow the links below to find out more about the support available to you.
Trustees have been as busy as ever and there has been plenty going on over the past six months. In particular, we have led on and pushed forward a piece of work looking at co-production in the Brunswick Centre and how this should work moving forwards. I look forward to sharing more on this in due course. Trustees also participated in race equality and inclusion training that was delivered across the organisation. This was a great opportunity for us to consider and reflect upon our impact and what we can do to make the organisation as inclusive a place as possible.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank former trustee Adam Savage, who stepped down from the board earlier this year. Adam has been with the board for over two and half years and has made a huge contribution to our work during that time.
Finally, I am delighted to announce that the Brunswick Centre was successful in its bid to deliver youth services for LGBT+ young people in Calderdale for the next five years. This complements nicely our existing offer for LGBT+ youth in Kirklees.
Hoping that you’ve had a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023!
Tom
