About
The Brunswick Centre provides sexual health and HIV services across Calderdale & Kirklees. The Centre is a registered charity (charity no. 1015450) and company limited by guarantee (registration number 2764525). There are two service teams within the Brunswick Centre, the Intervention, Support and Prevention team which provides services to people infected with or directly affected by HIV/AIDs and the Prevention team which provides HIV prevention and Sexual Health promotion services to Gay, Bi-sexual and other men who have sex with men and to Black Africans and other communities at increased risk of HIV. Services available are listed in each teams webpage.
The Brunswick Centre also administers the Calderdale and Kirklees Condom Distribution Scheme and the Kirklees c-card scheme. These schemes provide condoms to services who work with vulnerable communities and in the case of c-card condoms to young people.
The service teams can also provide training on HIV/AIDs, sexual health and sexuality issues. The Brunswick Centre has offices in Halifax, Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The main office is in Huddersfield. The Centre has rooms for hire at its premises. There is no charge for groups or organizations working in the same fields as the charity.
A bi-monthly newsletter is produced (available on this website) which highlights the activity of the charity and its service teams as well as information on activities and events. The charity has a board of trustees who meet every six weeks, and are responsible for the overall running of the charity and compliance to charity law and the Charity Commissioners.
The Brunswick Centre also works at a strategic level within Kirklees and Calderdale and works with a variety of partners, including the NHS, Local Authorities and Community and Voluntary sector organisations to ensure incidences of HIV infection are reduced, and the sexual health of the local population is improved.
